GDC is next week and Dawnrunner is gearing up for it’s biggest show yet! We are looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces throughout the show, as well as seeing how Think Services has made the show even more incredible than the previous years (something they do consistantly!) This will be our third year covering the show for them, and it is our biggest presence yet! We are all looking forward to the Award show on Wednesday night and the debut of our months of work, but also the coverage of the show itself! With a crew over 30 people – we are hoping to make this the biggest and best GDC yet for Video coverage! Check out the gdconf website for all the sizzle reel shortly after the show, for all those HOT video clips!
Today Geoff and I went into the studio to record the Commentary for “Singularity.” It was our first time doing such, and I have to admit we had a lot of fun (probably too much!). The Singularity project was fun anyway – but getting to go back and yap about all the fun we had along the way was a blast! IF you picked up a DVD, make sure you watch it once with the commentary on – you will be entertained!
There’s tons of stuff on the plate for Dawnrunner Productions, and as such be expecting a lot more blog activity in the near future! Including some commercials shot for local television, some music videos and some of our own projects we’re finally getting around too!
Check back soon!
Dawnrunner is pleased to announce we’ve been contracted to do the Awards Show graphics for this years Game Developers Choice Awards (www.gamechoiceawards.com) and the Independent Game Festival (www.igf.com)!! We are coming up with initial concepts now,but we cannot wait to get started! Rumor has it that we will be required to create motion graphic elements to run seamlessly with the show, on a 20ft tall LED screen!! Our graphics department is so excited that I’m a bit scared! We are working with Think Services on the initial designs and I cannot wait to see the result! It is bound to be awe inspiring! Check back for updates, and I’m sure you will get to see the work on the demo reel!
All of us here at Dawnrunner Productions are excited to announce that we’re entering into pre-production of a feature film! There are no details as of yet that we can get into, but what I can tell you is the following:
It will be a horror film, involving some pretty old folk-lore.
It will be shot in association with another production company overseas.
It will be shot in the southern United States.
It will be really – really scary!
Can you feel the excitement!? We will release more details as they become available.
The premiere of “Singularity” was as exciting for the crew of Dawnrunner as it was the youth’s who participated in the camp! Red Carpet, Balloons, screaming fans, and of course the starboard section of the ship Singularity in the theater lobby – all added to the buzz! The short film looked great and was greeted by the audience with applause, laughter, silence so profound at the tense moments you could hear a pin drop, and a standing ovation! The Press Q&A that followed the viewing was much longer than anyone thought possible, with almost 2 hours of questions from the audience for cast and crew! Thank you to all involved in making the night so remarkable! We were also happy to announce, officially, our summer camp for next year and the working title “Fortunes Mine” entering into development! We look forward to an even bigger cast and crew, and working with Starting Arts on another exciting project! Until next year, check back for updates!
Everyone at Dawnrunner HQ is excited to announce initial talks with a production company in an effort to write and produce a limited release feature film! There are very few details that we can announce currently, but we will continue to post updates as we are able. We have a great relationship with the partner production company and we are thrilled with the ideas that have come from the talks! The script is already being developed by both companies and I have to admit I am anticipating our weekly closed-door meetings very much! The story is so compelling, it is all I can think about on a day-to-day basis! This is something that we will be taking our time with, and developing fully. We are aiming for a 2010 limited release.
It is with great enthusiasm that I write that the “Singularity” Camp is wrapped! It was so much fun, and the Rock Band Wrap Party was priceless! I can say without a doubt that I speak for the whole Dawnrunner crew, and everyone involved in the project – We cannot wait for next year. The new script is already in development! This year was a great pilot to the project, and we are happy to be proceeding with our relationship with Starting Arts. We all feel that their work is profoundly needed, and we appreciate being able to offer one more small angle to their already extensive menu of Children’s Art Programs. If you haven’t already, swing by their website and see how they are working so diligently to bring the Arts back to Northern California School Districts! www.startingarts.com As for Dawnrunner, we get back to work on the post production side of the film and are anxiously awaiting the premiere! We look forward to seeing you there!
You heard correctly! The Singularity Summer Film Camp is all wrapped up! Tomorrow is the official last day of the camp, and it’s been a blast! The website will get a make-over with all the new photos from the camp, information on the cast and crew, and of course a pre-release sneak peek of the film!!! Stay tuned!
The Children’s Summer Film Camp project, “Singularity” in association with Starting Arts of Santa Clara has officially begun production! We have a great group of kids and our first day went great! The camp is focused on teaching the youths all aspects of filmmaking, including acting, operating cameras, lighting, editing, and directing. It’s hands-on, and hard work! My personal favorite comment of the first day was definitely from one of the young talented attendees, “We have to do this scene how many times?” It’s beautiful filmmaking at it’s finest – we at Dawnrunner cannot wait for the premiere!
After some massive re-acclamation to the time zone, weather and of course non-spicy food; Dawnrunner can say that it is back from a very successful trip to Thailand. Our thanks go out to the production company that we visited for an excellent and informative trip! The talks went well and there is a potential for working together in the future on feature film projects! There will be some back and forth for a while, but let’s just say “We’re keeping a lid on it, as this time!” On a personal note: Deep-fried scorpions taste a bit like Doritos.
