STARTING ARTS AND DAWNRUNNER PRODUCTIONS PARTNER FOR "SINGULARITY," ORIGINAL SHORT FILM TO SPOTLIGHT GRADE SCHOOL ACTING AND FILM PRODUCTION TALENT

First-of-its-kind summer film camp broadens scope for non-profit arts program

SAN FRANCISCO-- May 19, 2008-- Starting Arts, a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and Dawnrunner Productions, a San Francisco based production company, partner for a first-of-its-kind Starting Arts Summer Film Camp. The three week long art program, taking place July 21-August 8, 2008 and hosted at Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, California, will feature student acting and production talent from grades 6-12 in an original short film production titled "Singularity". Taught and produced by trained film professionals James Fox and Geoff Peck, Director and Director of Photography, Dawnrunner Productions, the course will educate students in advanced film-making techniques and a primary focus on on-camera acting through hands-on instruction.

"The Starting Arts Summer Film Camp pilot program is a logical next step to the plethora of arts programs currently offered to Starting Arts students and fits our goals of supporting and growing arts education" said Ann Watts, Executive Director of Starting Arts "The response to "Singularity" has been phenomenal and we are looking forward to offering more groundbreaking programs like this in the future."

"Singularity", the original script featured in this production, is a coming of age story that revolves around a group of students whose collective imaginations unlock incredible adventures. Students will participate in all aspects of the production with a primary focus on on-camera acting techniques.  The film camp will culminate in a premiere gala event on September 6, showcasing the finished film, "Singularity," on the big screen and recognizing the excellence of the student talent.

"Teaching students about film production at an early age is critical for inspiring the next generation of talent to push the bounds in the film industry" said James Fox, Owner/Director, Dawnrunner Productions and one of the Starting Arts Film Camp Instructors "We're offering, not just the chance to learn filmmaking, but also the opportunity to complete the program with a finished short film. For young talent, this is a big leg-up in pursuing their acting career goals."
